The Junior Musical Theatre class will be working on ‘The Lorax’ this term in their Musical Theatre training. It is imperative that the students at Tom Ball Live have the chance to develop the skills they learn in class by being able to perform on a regular basis. This is one of the ways that we are giving our students that opportunity.
What is the story?
The Lorax is a brilliant Dr Seuss story which was recently made into a film. As well as it being a great story with some fantastic music, it teaches children about the importance of looking after the environment and especially trees and wildlife.
Long before “going green” was mainstream, Dr. Seuss’s Lorax spoke for the trees and warned of the dangers of disrespecting the environment. In this cautionary tale we learn of the Once-ler, who came across a valley of Truffula Trees and Brown Bar-ba-loots, and how his harvesting of the tufted trees changed the landscape forever. With the release of the blockbuster film version, the Lorax and his classic tale have educated a new generation of young readers not only about the importance of seeing the beauty in the world around us, but also about our responsibility to protect it.
When is the performance?
The performance of The Lorax will be on Saturday 09 July at 12.15pm at Temple Moor High School
