What Is This?
Acting Through Song is a class which is designed to complement your singing training by adding emotion and truth to your performance. Singing with a great voice is only half of the battle these days. It is just as important, if not more, that your delivery of the piece is true to it’s meaning.
Within this class the students will learn to identify key moments in the text of a song to use to emphasise the story within the song. There is a great use of comprehension skills in this class, looking into sub text and hidden meaning. Each student brings a section of a song to work on and we go through the section as a group, each giving feedback to the performer to help them to choose the best way to perform the piece.
We look at emotions and their varying levels of simplicity. The difference between sad and devastated, happy and thrilled, angry and crazed etc. It helps students with language skills and grows their vocabulary by using different words to both feedback and explain with. The end result is a more confident and polished performance, true to the text and emmersive for the audience lucky enough to watch.
Students must have a private singing lesson to be able to participate in this class. This class is not at all about ability and it is not a technique class it is focussed on performance.
